Whats new on the Hubitat Elevation C8?

Zigbee 3.0 is the latest version of the Zigbee wireless communication standard for smart home and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Just like the Hubitat Elevation C7, the C8 has a hard-wired ethernet connection.

While a hard-wired ethernet connection is always recommended, the C8's WiFi connectivity allows you to place your hub anywhere in your home to optimise Z-Wave and Zigbee coverage.

The two external antennae will allow for increased range and reduced RF latency.

If you currently experience lag on Z-Wave devices due to too many repeater jumps, the improved signal strength of the Hubitat Elevation C8 will likely solve your issues. You can expect your Z-Wave devices to now communicate directly to the hub rather than making multiple hops through repeaters.

Zigbee radio strength is also higher, with a maximum of 20dbm. This is now adjustable in the user interface.

The Hubitat Elevation C8 is Matter ready - an upcoming firmware update will enable this functionality.
